Elections

The first most exciting rally of the day - in Hougang by Worker's Party! I wish I could be there, especially since it was 2 blocks from my house.

WP candidate Yaw Shin Leong, campaigning for Hougang SMC

The turnout at Hougang!

Wow madness Hougang has never been so popular before! Tonight was a day of glory for our dear Hougang Stadium!!

The next rally to catch is Worker Party's Aljunied GRC rally tomorrow at Serangoon Stadium! WOOHOO. Seems like PAP is still resting their horses. There shall be bloodshed.

On a side note, a super funny video by some of our homegrown video-makers!! I am actually quite impressed that we have funny/non-conventional people in Singapore!

Some lovable photos at IE :)

The Squishy Car

So many things to do tonight, but I am still going to blog first! :D

Went to NTU for an activity today, first time ever to that ulu place!! It is HUGE and has so MANY FORESTY CORNERS and woah how do people get around there!?

Lucky I have superb map-reading skills

I was tottering in heels, navigating with this map in hand, trying to get to the Nanyang Executive Centre. Asked quite a couple of students along the way and they havent even heard of it! Epic.

Long walkway amidst NTU forest

Long road amidst NTU forest
Was quite happy to meet so many nice people there! Everyone was NICE and friendly :D There were seven of us..

Seven friendly people

When we were leaving, we realised one of us had a car and drove here (the guy on the far right)! But we have seven people! The car could fit a max of 5-6.. We took like 20minutes to decide who to take the car, and who to leave out helpless in the NTU jungle. It was an extremely tough decision....

In the end, we decided to ALL GO INTO THE CAR!

Madness and chaos!! The guys refused to sit on each other's lap. The car driver was damn stressed out at the prospect of meeting police.  Someone was yelling directions to the driver. We ended up circling the NTU grassland. We were squashed. And I was reduced to squatting (it's unfair how the smallest one never gets the seat ) all the way..

And this is proof:

MADNESS! Still gotta thank the brave driver though

Pro driver

I hope I dont get charged posting this....

On a side note, it's Nomination Day!! So exciting. I'm in AMK GRC so it's Reform Party VS. Lee Hsien Loong and PAP. UGHH im so annoyed - used to be in Aljunied GRC and thought it was ridiculous cos I lived in Hougang (at least there's some action there). And now when things finally get steamy at Aljunied, I'm no longer there.....

And I still live in Hougang by the way.

The Delegation Meetings

So Momo brought me to two delegate meetings yesterday, and i was so excited!! Even though I was just the girl in the corner scribbling notes furiously, I absolutely loved attending these sessions. :D

The first delegate meeting:
What: Presentation and Information Session about Singapore's economy
Who: 35 Africans from the National Defence College in Kenya
Where: Little Red Dot room at IE.

It was pretty interesting, Momo gave a presentation about Singapore, and then there was a Q&A session where Momo and this guy from MTI answered questions fielded by our guests.

The guests seated in a classroom setting
I was pretty impressed by Momo, since he said he gave the speech spontaneously and prepared the presentation just before during lunch!!! If there is anything I learnt through my internship and interviews, presentation skills are everything. I hope I could become a fluent and inspirational speaker in future :D

Kenyans getting brochures and name-cards from the front

At the end of the session, they presented Mo with a sweet plague to thank him/us for his time. The totally awesome thing is, they gestured towards me at the back of the room to come forward too! They then presented me with this awesome Kenyan necklace:

Made with Kenyan Stones!!

I was so happy and honoured!!!! Kenya and the Kenyan people are fabulous! Their stones are fab too.

The second delegate meeting
What: Information and Discussion Session on Singapore's economy and the aviation sector
Who: Three top South African officials from the Civil Aviation Authority
Where: Boardroom at IE

BEFORE

Listening intently to the presentation

When the session ended
From these meetings I noticed something.

1. African men are all bald! I hope that doesnt come across mean, I am just so very curious! I bet you are nodding your head in agreement and scratching your hair in puzzlement now too!

Yahoo Answers - Why are most African men bald?

That's cool. The hair curls up and sits on their heads as little balls, making them look bald. I shall observe more closely next time.

I would love to share more about my work and perspectives, but I am not sure if it's confidential! Later I get screwed by government. (okay MAYBE i am being paranoid)

:D

MEA Farewell Lunch

First I am triumphant to state that I was right about my camera!! It was hidden in my dad's secret drawers... =.=

After months of interning at IE, I have finally come to my last week. I kinda miss the place already.. and everytime I see this sign, I feel a wave of nostalgia..

A sign I see everyday, everywhere.

Today the MEA trio gave me a farewell treat!! They so exceeded my expectations. Despite teasing and being mean all the time, they actually planned to treat me today. Aww I knew that somewhere deep down inside their macho hearts THEY WILL (hopefully) MISS THIS INTERN!!

Green curry at Siam Kitchen!

Four ice-cream scoops at Marble Slab

What Momo ate instead of Ice-Cream
'I am trying to keep to my diet, stop tempting me!' says Momo, while rubbing his big belly

A group photo:
From the left: Lester, Momo, Garry, Khairul, Janelle (new intern!), Me

Mann I will seriously miss this place! Despite all of them being super uh uniquely different and kinda funnily dysfunctional sometimes, I have come to adore MEA! Middle East and Africa ftw!

Over the week I shall post everything I love about IE. :D

Today Momo also brought me to two delegate meetings! Shall post about that tomorrow.

On a side note, am loving this song today! :D

I know you're now reeling in shock at HOW EXHILARATING Singapore really is! I know I did! Any other ideas??

Grah I need to find my camera - I have a feeling my dad hid it somewhere and is happily watching me search for it in order to 'teach me a lesson for being careless'... WELL IF HE HID IT, THAT DOESNT COUNT AS ME LOSING IT. Lucky for both of us, I know his tricks and how to pretend exasperation.

On a side note, I have been wearing icky retainers since Friday and they are so ANNOYING! I can't pronounce anything with an S or a T. I can't even say 'This Sucks!'

If i was going to suffer I wish I had cool retainers like the blue and red one up there. Mine's a boring transparent colour..

Dorm Room Ideas

Due to me being overly-excited, I have started brainstorming and researching on Dorm Room Ideas!!

Love the curtains love the flower portrait!

I NEED to have those hanging thingies

Pretty mirror

INSPIRATIONAL HAND-MADE POSTER!

Wicked idea - raising your beds so that you can stuff one million things underneath <3

Hmm dont think one shelf is enough at all

Gotta think of someone else to hang on the wall. (LOL that sounds like a death threat)

All the designs are so mega pretty!! I am so psyched about my potential new room. I hope it's not too crammed or smelly.

List of must-haves in future beautiful room:
1. Colourful comforters
2. Table lamp
3. Bed-raisers
4. Fabric to cover walls if walls are grotty
5. Loads of cool handmade artsy stuff (major need to consult help)
6. Many many drawers and shelves
7. MINI FRIDGE
8. Microwave
Running out of ideas, I am sure a room needs more than 8 items..

Yay I love making exciting lists!

Pilot

WOW IT'S MY NEW BLOG!

What a monumental moment! YES my fabulous blog is finally up and running, after !@&%! hours of deciphering html codes and I am writing my first post!! Except - how do you start a blogpost??

I would expect my first post to be completely perfect, light-hearted, humorous, yet edgy, unique and of course, intelligent. It would leave all my readers inspired. Continue like this and I might just end up being interviewed on the Straits Times and RazorTV! People will start coming up to me on the street exclaiming 'Ooh my eyes popped at your blog!' and asking for my signature..

This is stressful.

Oh well I'm feeling a bit fearless right now, since I found out that you can edit previous posts and nobody would know!! Bet you didn't know that.

So anyways I am about to document my exciting life henceforth, because yippee I'm going to London in a few months for college!!! And before all that I am SO INSPIRED that I have a whole list of Things to Do Before College! This blog starts TODAY, where I am ticking off the first item on my list - START A BLOG.

Well I look forward to the 10 views I get each week (9 of which are me) and WOOHOO NEW BLOG!!! :D
